Teeth Whitening

What’s Teeth Whitening?

Whitening can erase years worth of discoloration and heavy staining. Many different factors can contribute to a smile that appears dull, stained and discolored. In some cases, there is no control over the color of your teeth because it’s either hereditary or due to age. We offer in-office whitening as well as a convenient take-home kit that you can use to achieve brilliant results.

Why might you benefit from Teeth Whitening?

If you’re unhappy with the look of your teeth and know that it’s time for a change, it might be a good idea to consider professional whitening. At all times, we monitor your results and help to improve them by offering tips on maintaining your whiter smile. Some reasons for why your teeth may be yellowed and dull include:

  • Smoking
  • Chewing tobacco
  • Certain medications
  • Drinking coffee, tea or cola
  • Staining foods and fruit juices
  • Wine
  • Aging

What makes someone a candidate for Teeth Whitening?

Whitening works the best on natural teeth. It will have no impact on any restorations that you currently have, like bridges, crowns, veneers or bonding. It is important that your teeth are otherwise healthy before undergoing whitening treatment. Whitening should only be done about once every 12 months to prevent issues with sensitivity.

What can you expect with professional Teeth Whitening?

The professional whitening process can be done either in our office or while at home. For in-office pro whitening, we apply a whitening gel to your teeth. A light is placed over your smile to help accelerate the results. You will experience a brighter, whiter smile in just under an hour in our office. Take-home whitening will involve making impressions of your teeth and then using these to fabricate whitening trays. These trays fit your smile like a glove, so you can be sure you are whitening every corner and crevice. You will be provided with a whitening gel that is used inside of these trays for a specific amount of time at home.
